Steelmin produces ferrosilicon, a ferroalloy of iron and silicon, which contains 75% silicon and 25% iron. Ferrosilicon is used extensively in molten crude steel as a de-oxidising agent and is also used to add electrical conductivity and corrosion-resistance properties to steel, improving the strength and quality of iron steel products.
